The Densiphalt Solution
Densiphalt was chosen as the surfacing solution for Norfolk Environmental Waste in January 2001. Densiphalt offers fast track construction methods with 24 hour curing and this in turn can lead to significant programme advantages to the contractor on site, particularly during winter working. CIP sub-contracted the installation of the basecourse and open graded asphalt wearing course to Jarvis Highway Maintenance Ltd. The open graded asphalt was laid at a temperature of circa 160ºC to an area of 2960m² and once it had cooled to 30ºC the CIP installation team flooded the asphalt matrix with the Densiphalt high strength microsilica mortars. Upon completion of each area the Densiphalt was ready for trafficking within 24 hours. The sub base works were effected by the Main Contractor on site and typically CIP will always build up with the Densiphalt pavement from topside of the sub base, which has been installed by others. CIP Ltd offer a full design and installation package for the Densiphalt pavement system with full guarantees and insurance’s. CIP Ltd will take responsibility for the Densiphalt system from formation to top layer of pavement. CIP Ltd guaranteed this new build installation for 12 years.
