How does the mortar come to site?

The mortar is delivered to site as a powder in 1 tonne builders bags or large scale in bulk and mixed in a continuous flow pump machine or batch mixed with a low percentage of water. Once achieved its correct viscosity the mortar is poured onto the open graded asphalt where it penetrates the OGA fully.

Silos
There are 2 basic delivery & pumping options by CIP, one using 1 tonne bags and the other using bulk materials delivered into Silos. Silos are used for a variety of jobs in the construction business and therefore easily available. The silo must be transported by special equipment/truck and fed by bulk delivery. This system is now available in the UK. When they are in place on the job site they carry 25-30 ton which is suitable for an application of 1200-1500m2. The silo will be refilled by bulk trucks during the application of CIP mortars. Silos increase productivity, improving quality control, reduce disruption, site waste and reduce transport costs.

What colours can Grouted Macadam be?
At the mixing stage iron oxide pigment can be added to the powder at a maximum of 5% to create colour. The colours for Grouted Macadam can be red, blue, green, yellow, black and white.

What are the different surface finishes for Grouted Macadam?
For the majority of applications/environments the standard surface finish is adequate. However, the surface can be finished in a variety of ways: grit-blasted for additional surface texture, bauxite and skim-coat for waste tipping halls, ground to smooth finish for internals.

Can Grouted Macadam be laid onto existing concrete slabs?
Yes. Grouted Macadams are used extensively in overlay/refurbishment applications. It can be laid at thin depths onto existing / old concrete slabs saving on dig out and disposal costs and allowing client operations to continue with minimal disruption. Grouted Macadam for overlay applications will always be subject to surface preparation works required and this can vary from site to site. Detailed site surveys are carried out by CiP Densiphalt Ltd and detailed proposals submitted for a Grouted Macadam overlay including all surface preparation works required
